<--- my new
nephew Jackson Charles Conners!!
Hello there
Curious!
Long-time no speak, things have indeed been busy busy
busy! First things first, the first half of the CD
release shows have been simply incredible; thank you for
coming out and for all your amazing feedback on the new
disc. We have many more shows around the corner
including Peterborough (Gordon Best) tonight, Wakefield
(Black Sheep) tomorrow July 14, Kitchener-Waterloo
(Boathouse) July 20th, Toronto (Drake Hotel) July 21st,
as well as some fun shows like a solo show with my
friends the Good Lovelies at the Gladstone on July 26th
and a bunch of festivals in August. After all of that,
we'll head out and tour colleges in September, then I'll
hit the East Coast (including Newfoundland!), then the
rest of Canada and then the US!! I think I'm basically
going to be on tour for about 2 years...so get your
spare beds fluffed and de-loused!
Just a quick
note about the Drake Hotel show on Saturday July 21st,
it is FULL BAND and with Jason Bajada (www.myspace.com/jasonbajada)
and JF Robitaille (www.mypsace.com/jfrobitaille) , 2
AMAZING singer-songwriters from Montreal and New York.
I'll be the 3rd of 3 and the schedule will be tight.
First act will be on at 9 and we'll be on no later than
11 (for real!). I don't know the exact price but it will
be cheaper than usual (under $10 for sure). Hopefully
you can come check it out.
Also wanted to mention that tickets for the Good
Lovelies show on the 26th (I'm doing a solo opening set)
are onsale now in advance at Soundscapes (572 College
St).
And now for the point-form section:
- The
'Forgiveness' video is ALMOST done and will be released
very shortly...
- My track 'Posters' has been selected as the featured
song at garageband.com for July 17th, 2007!
- The new record 'More Nights' is available for
purchase WORLDWIDE through
www.cdbaby.com/peterkatz3, indiepool.com, Puretracks
as well as
HERE It will be up on itunes in a couple of weeks
- Lethbridge loves PK and the Curious! We're #2 for
Folk/Roots and #5 for Rock/Pop on the Lethbridge
charts! Thank you!
- The new website is ALMOST done. Thank you for your
patience and hate-mail telling me to get it up already.
Alright, sorry to put you through the point-form there
for a moment, I'm a little long-winded otherwise...
I believe that's it. I'll be announcing the national
tour dates in a couple of weeks, can't wait to hit the
road! Take care, lots of love, Peter |

Hello there friends!
I’m writing to you from the studio, we’re busy putting
the final touches on the record before it goes to
mastering on Tuesday. I can’t quite believe it’s ALMOST
done!!! I am so ridiculously excited for you all to
hear it!!
On that note, pre-sales have now begun (thanks to all of
you that have already purchased copies!). We’re kind of
out of money and need to raise enough funds through
pre-sales to print the darn thing so if you’re going to
buy the record anyway, why not do it in advance! As a
little incentive, you’ll get it a week before it goes
on-sale, you’ll get some fun stickers and buttons and
I’ll write my name on it if you’d like. Pre-sale
copies are $20 and include all shipping and handling.
Feel free to buy as many copies as you’d like, nothing
like getting your holiday shopping done in June!
If you would like to purchase a copy/copies,
PLEASE CLICK HERE. You can use all credit cards,
e-checks, paypal etc. all through the linked paypal
site, 100% securely.
Also, as many of you may or may not know, I just got
back from 2 weeks in France performing as part of the
ceremonies at Vimy Ridge. It was probably the best
experience of my life and I wrote a photo-blog about it
HERE so please feel free to check it out.
There you have it, a short note (for once in my life…).
I’ll have show announcements and the like very soon,
plus all kinds of exciting album-related stuff very very
soon!
Thanks for reading, hope you’re all doing well, lots of
love, PEter |

***I'm going
to be an uncle for a second time!! Baby boy
Jackson is on his way!! Check it out, he looks
just like me!***
Hello
Mile-Runners!
Hope everyone is doing well; I am still DEEP within the
creation of the new album, but tracking is now 95% done
(we did the 6-piece string section yesterday!). Soon
we’ll be moving on to mixing, mastering, etc. soo
exciting!!!
First things first, the band and I will be headlining a
show tomorrow night (Sat the 17th) at the ESC in
Mississauga. Doors are at 9 pm with the incredible Sean
Pinchin starting off the night (www.myspace.com/seanpinchin).
More show details
HERE Come on down all you Mississaugians (??)
Second things second, I will be doing a little tour at
the end of March in Ontario and Quebec to give you all a
taste of what’s in store for the new record. Included in
the tour will be a HUGE show at Revival (EARLY SHOW) in
Toronto on FRIDAY MARCH 30th where we’ll have the full
band with special guests and we’ll also be shooting a
live DVD! Tickets will be onsale soon for that show,
more details on that in about a week.
The following night we’ll be playing a super exciting
show at the Gig Theatre in Kitchener (Sat March 31st).
The venue is an absolutely gorgeous 600-seat theatre and
we’re so excited to be playing there, supporting the
wonderful Rob Szabo Band in his hometown!! Tickets go
onsale for that show tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 10
am. $12 adv. $15 door at
ticketweb.ca (search 'Rob Szabo') or at Encore
Records and Sherwood music in KW.
Also as part of the tour, Rob and I will be doing 2 back
to back solo shows at the Yellow Door in Montreal
(Friday March 23 and Sat March 24), a full-band show at
The Pepper Jack Café on Sunday March 25th and a full
band show at Fanshawe College in London on Wed March
28th.
All of this brings me to my final point:
THIS TOUR WILL ALSO MARK THE END OF MY EP ‘SPLIT’ BEING
ONSALE!!! AFTER MARCH 31st, ‘Split’ will be officially
out of print, so if you’d like a copy, be sure to order
it soon or pick it up at one of the shows. You can order
it online through peterkatz.com, you can order it at any
store in Canada, or you can get it at all shows.
After March 31st ….pre-sales will begin for ‘More
Nights’---- my official debut!! To be released on June
7th, 2007!!
Thanks for making it to the bottom. There are so many
exciting things that I haven’t told you about yet… but
all in good time…
I hope all of you are doing well in your own lives; I
CAN’T WAIT for you all to hear the new record!!
Take care and thanks for your ears, much love, PEter

Just a quick little update to say hello and let you know
that despite relative 'quietness' on the online front, I
am BUSIER than ever! We are ALMOST done tracking
all the parts for the record, just strings and a few
miscellaneous bits and we'll have it all in the can.
Then we'll move on to mixing, mastering, design, etc.
etc. I'll be announcing the official
Canadian release date shortly, but I would put your
money on June 7th, 2007!! I'll be
leaking some previews long before then though so please
check back regularly. Hope you're all doing
well, it's back to the studio for me! Take care,
PEter |

Hello
Mile-Runners!
I am back from my 2nd national tour and am
happy to report that I am alive and well (though
extremely exhausted…)
I have written a detailed photo-blog and posted it for
your perusal
HERE
Included in the
blog is a NEW SONG that I wrote and recorded while
on tour called ‘That Was Then’ You can download it for
free there (the lyrics are posted at the bottom of the
page)
Without getting into too much detail about my trip (as
it’s all in the blog) I’ll just say that I had an
absolutely incredible time. I’d also like to say THANK
YOU to everyone who made it possible; I am completely
indebted to your remarkable kindness and support, it is
overwhelming and inspiring.
You’ll notice a bit of a lull in the ‘shows’ section of
the site as now that I’m back my complete focus will be
finishing the new record. Things are going to take a
little longer than anticipated as I was very fortunate
to receive a FACTOR grant worth a significant amount of
money which means we can do all the bells and whistles
we wanted to do. I can’t wait for you all to hear this
record; I promise that all this time will have been
worth it!
I’d just like to say one other thing that has really
become a big part of my consciousness in recent times.
I really encourage everyone to watch the movie ‘An
Inconvenient Truth’ with Al Gore. I truly believe that
it’s one of the most important documents of our time and
cannot be ignored without tremendous consequences.
After watching this movie, I felt afraid, but I also
felt extremely empowered to do something about it.
There are very simple, practical things that you can
start doing right now to battle global warming. A
suggestion: invest in Green energy on behalf of a
family member as a great Christmas/Hannukah present!
Please check out some of these links:
www.climatecrisis.net
www.nativeenergy.com
www.bullfrogpower.com
That’s it for me; I’m happy to say that I’m going to
disappear until the New Year.
Happy Holidays to everyone; thank you so much to each
and every one of you for your ears, your big hearts,
your open-mindedness, your warmth, your thoughtful
communications and your incredible support. This has
been an amazing year for me and the entire team; we owe
it all to you and your willingness to engage.
2007 is going to be a BIG one, I can feel it!
Lots and lots of love, PEter |

Hello
Mile-Runners!
There’s another update coming soon with the official
details of the upcoming Canadian tour, but in the
meantime there are a bunch of really exciting dates
to tell you about.
Just before I get to that though, let me first say
an enormous THANK YOU to everyone who came out to
all the shows in September. Biggest highlights were
definitely the two full-houses at the Rivoli with
the 8-piece band! Hopefully someday we can take that
act on the road! I also want to report that the new
album (now officially titled ‘More Nights’) is
moving along extremely well. We’re doing the last
of the vocals over the next week or so, and then
from there we move on to strings, horns and whatever
other little touches we want to add. It’s still
going to be a little while (as things will grind to
a halt while I’m on tour) but it’s definitely
sounding like the album I’ve always dreamed of
making, can’t wait for you all to hear it!!
On to the shows (specific details in the
shows section):
On Wed. Oct 18th I will be doing a poetry reading
(!!) at the Now Lounge in Toronto, as a guest of
Montreal performance poet extraordinaire Luna
Allison (www.lunallison.com)
I’ll be performing a few solo acoustic tunes as
well. Also on the bill is Zoe Whittall.
On Fri. Oct 20th, we will be doing our first
full-band show at the SoundLounge (ESC) in
Mississauga. I love this room and can’t wait to
bring the band out!
On Sat. Oct 21st, I am VERY excited to report that
the band will be opening for the incredible Rob
Szabo (and band) at the gorgeous Starlight in
Waterloo. We could not be more excited about this
show, at this point I’m sure everyone knows how much
we love playing with Rob, and the Starlight is such
a great venue = recipe for GREAT night! Tickets for
this show are onsale now through
maplemusic.
On Sun. Oct 22nd, I will be doing a solo afternoon
set at the legendary Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield,
QC (just outside Ottawa). The show is at 4:00 pm,
solo acoustic and also features the arresting Andrea
Revel (www.andrearevel.com)
who has been receiving a LOT of attention as of
late. An intimate solo show at one of the best
venues in the country, on a Sunday afternoon, in the
most beautiful little town in Quebec, definitely
worth the trip!
On Tues. Oct 24th, I will be performing at Sheridan
College in Mississauga. There is an open mic
preceding my set and then I’ll be the featured
guest. All you Sheridan-ites, come on down (and
bring your guitars!)
And Finally, on Thurs. Oct 26th, the Full band will
be playing in Montreal at the gorgeous La Sala Rosa
with Cabaret singer par excellence Amanda Mabro
(with band)
www.amandamabro.com and Jason Bajada
www.jasonbajada.com . Both of these Montrealers
have been making huge waves both in Montreal and
across the country, this show will be our biggest
Montreal date yet! Tickets for this show are onsale
in advance for only $8 through
ticketweb
That’s all for now, check the
shows section for specific addresses and times;
tour update coming soon with a whack of shows with
Rob Szabo across the country, plus an East-Coast
tour with the Pocket Co.! Thanks as always for your
incredible support (I really appreciate all your
emails!), can’t wait to play for you all very very
soon!!
Take care, lots of love, PEter |

Hey Everyone!
It was just brought to my attention that despite the
discounts offered for advance ticket sales, it actually
comes out to 50 cents more than the door price with the
service charges…. Well, that seems to defeat my
original intentions, SO, I’m offering a $2 refund at the
door to every person who purchases their tickets in
advance. That means you’re guaranteed to get in, and
you have a little extra cash to buy a pack of gum, or a
soda, or tip the bartender well and get great service
all night! Thanks to everyone who have already purchased
tickets!
Had a huge rehearsal with all the special guests last
night, we barely fit into the room! (and it sure didn’t
smell very good 3 hours later --- 8 people, humidity,
playing hard, small room with no circulation…mmmm)
Get your tickets now by following
this link or by going to
www.ticketweb.ca . You can also phone your order in
at 1.888.222.6608
The tour dates for the rest of Canada are almost all
booked, stay tuned for tour announcement!
n.b. I also want to say a special thanks to everyone for
your overwhelming responses to my recent email about the
events in Montreal at Dawson College. I received many
emails, some of which agreed with my thoughts, others
that disagreed, all of which were sent with a huge
amount of honesty, integrity, thoughtfulness and the
willingness to communicate! THANK YOU!!!
See you soon!!
Take care, Peter |

I was driving on Adelaide Street today when I turned my
radio to CBC and heard that there was some kind of
killing spree going on at a school in Montreal. The city
name, being my hometown caught my attention, but as
the details came in, I realized that it was
at the school my brother Andrew taught at, and that just
last night I had been talking to my father who had said
that Andrew was now working there full-time. As those
two pieces of information collided, I realized that my
brother was more than likely at the school, and that
there was a good chance that he was near the shooting,
if not in the heart of it. I wanted to call him so
badly, but I was frozen, I couldn’t stop listening for
the details “What was happening?” “Was anybody killed?”
“What was really going on?!”
When I had pieced together a rough idea of the situation
from the scattered reports, I called my brother’s
cell-phone. My mind was ablaze, I was worried that his
phone might ring and draw the shooter’s attention to him
or something insane to that effect, I was terrified, but
I selfishly needed to know that he was o.k. My heart
fell from my throat as he picked up the phone. ‘Are you
o.k.?’ I asked, and he said “Yes, I was on my way there,
I was 10 minutes away. I’m just at a restaurant right
now, having a bowl of soup, just trying to get some
comfort, take a few deep breaths”. I could hear the
shock in his voice.
As I processed that my brother was safe, I fell apart.
My heart fell deep into my belly and I gasped into
tears, unable to contain myself. He could have been
there, he would have been there, his friends are there,
his students are there, his students have been shot.
This has happened.
I sat in my car, on the side of the road for a long
time, the same images running through my mind of my
brother being threatened by the shooter, lying on the
ground, running for his life. My brother: who has been
with me my entire life, my best friend, my life-long
companion; one of the few precious people who would
always be there for me, always know me no matter what. I
couldn’t handle the thoughts; I couldn’t handle the
moment.
I cancelled the meeting that I was on my way to, and
when I felt like it was mentally safe, I drove home,
knowing that as soon as I walked in the door, I would
once again collapse. And I did.
It is now several hours later, and I am finally calming
down. I’ve spoken to my loved ones, shared many
remarkable conversations. All are safe and I am
breathing somewhat normally again. My thoughts are with
all the people who were not so lucky today, and all the
people that had to witness this. I am also thinking of
the shooter, wishing him peace as I know he did not make
it out alive.
There is no one in this world that should be left
behind. There is no evil, I can’t believe that. There
are people who are mentally ill, and they need to be
treated, but there cannot be evil. There is only
corruption, anger, emotions left unattended. There is
only hatred due to ignorance and fear, protectionism,
isolation. But there is no natural occurring
evil, that’s not possible. If I don’t believe that, then
I am lost. If I can’t believe that we are naturally
good, then I can’t believe in anything.
I don’t have a song to offer up, it’s too close at this
point. But if this event is the result of an individual
who felt marginalized, who somehow held so much anger
that he felt
compelled to do something like this, who didn’t have the
opportunity to communicate his emotions until the last
moment, well then I want to react with as much
communication as possible. I want to react with as much
emotion, as much humanity, as much coming-together and
openness as possible. I’m sure many of you have been
affected by this event and I invite you to share your
story of today with me, or with anyone around you. What
are you feeling right now? How does an event like this
make you feel? If you haven’t had a chance to express
yourself about it yet, then I’m all ears. There’s no
pressure of course, but if you feel so inclined, I’m
here to listen. I feel like the most common way to
experience an event like this is to just watch the news.
I understand that need, but I want to take it further. I
want to infuse what’s left of this day with humanity,
with all that’s overwhelmingly good and incredible about
people, with our ability to feel something deep in our
gut and be affected by it. I want to support
communication and the free-flow of dialogue and
emotions. I want to support forgiveness, not the
propagation of hate, no matter how trying the
circumstances.
Forgive me for my constant public display of emotion. I
don’t have any answers, and I do not intend to preach; I
just want to feel connected to this world around me that
I so often can’t understand, and this is all that I can
think of doing.
Hoping that you’re all well, lots of love, PEter

Hello
Mile-Runners!
It has been a while since my last update, but the quiet
is only a testament to the storm of busy-ness that's
been going on (and is about to happen!)
Before
I dive in, let me first say an enormous THANK YOU to
everyone who listened to
‘Forgiveness’ and passed it along to friends.
The song has received thousands of plays so far,
without any release, proper recording, funding, radio
attention or anything. That is a pretty amazing
thing and I have all of you to thank for spreading the
message. I also need to thank everyone who has been
sending me their stories and artwork for my
writing project. I have a pile of great material for
when I’m on tour, keep it coming! (and remember,
it can be about anything, just tell me what it’s
like to be you, your day to day, your exceptional,
your mundane, whatever).
Alright, MUCH to report!
RECORDING: The album is rolling along nicely. I’d say
we’re somewhere in the 40-50% done range, but we’re
being extremely picky and somewhat obsessive (don’t look
at me…) so it’s going to take a while. Let me tell you
though, I am SOOOO excited about how things are
sounding. I’m in the process of editing video from the
recording process which I’ll be posting in segments over
the next little while to show you what we’ve been up to.
This record will be considered the official 'debut',
which means that the first 2 records will go out of
print. There are limited copies (about 20) of 'The One
Minute Mile Man' available through cdbaby.com and a few
hundred copies of Split left that I'll be selling on the
upcoming tour. Once those are out, that's it, so if
you'd like a copy make sure you get one soon! The new
release
is planned for Winter 2007!
TOURING: I’m tired of this ‘recording hiatus’, I’m DYING
to be playing shows again! Well, there are a ton of
shows around the corner. I’ll be doing a whack of
colleges and universities for September, followed by a
solo/trio tour of Ontario and then followed by a solo
cross-Canada tour for end of October, November and
December! Dates are up for September and some of October
but there are way more still to be posted so keep
checking in (as soon as I know, you’ll know!)
We are also doing a very exciting 2-night-stand at the
Rivoli on Sept 22nd and 23rd! Both shows will be full
band, with special guests each night as well as many
different songs/arrangements from night to night. We’ll
be previewing a lot of the new material from the
upcoming album as well. This is definitely our biggest
endeavor to date as far as shows are concerned so come
on down and bring your friends! Tickets will go on-sale
on Wednesday Sept 6th at 10 am through ticketweb.ca and
peterkatz.com. For the first week of sales (Sept 6th to
Sept 13th), we will be offering a special promotion of
$9 per night or $16 for both nights! Following that
window, tickets will be $10 per night or $18 for both
and $12 at the door. I know that’s a little complicated,
but basically if you buy your ticket early it will be
cheaper and
you’ll be guaranteed a spot at the show.
And for all you Hamilton-ites (?) I have a residency at
the Casbah every Tuesday in Sept (well, Sept 5th, 12th
and 19th) at 10 pm. I’ll be trying to mix it up each
week and previewing lots of new material. I look forward
to seeing you regularly this month!
Thanks for
making it all the way to the bottom. Hope you’re all
having a great long-weekend, can’t wait to get out of
the specifics of recording and into the rush of
performing. See you soon!
Take care,
PEter |

Hello hello!
All the September shows
have been updated in the
shows section!
October, November and December National tour dates are
currently being booked so please check back regularly!
The album is rolling along
nicely. All the bed tracks are done (we did them live
off the floor to 2-inch tape...ooooohhhh.....so warm and
sweet.....!) and now I'm doing additional guitars and
vocals. Soon we'll move on to keys, strings,
brass, choir, and everything else we can think of.
I'll have some preview videos for you very very soon.
In the meantime, thanks for checking in; I can't wait to
leave the 'bubble' and get back out there playing for
all of you!
On another note, I've
composed a new score for choreographer Meagan O'Shea's
piece 'When I See You Again' which will be performed at
the Harbourfront Center (!!) THIS Saturday (august 26th)
at 3 pm. It's a FREE show so come on down!
That's all for now, hope
you are all doing well; I wish I could get this album
out to you now (but patience is a virtue ---and I have
none of it!)
take care, PEter |

Forgiveness
I heard an interview on CBC radio about 6 weeks ago with the father of a man who was decapitated by Zarcowi. What was most surprising about the interview was the man’s forgiveness of Zarcowi, and his desire to break the chain of hate. He did not seek/want revenge; he was not thankful for Zarcowi’s death but only further saddened by it. What was also surprising was the reaction from other Americans to his unwillingness to speak out angrily and support the war ---he was actually shot at and shown huge posters of his decapitated son by angry pro-war protesters. I was very affected by the interview and wrote about it in my journal at the time.
With the recent events in the Middle East very much in my thoughts, I woke up this morning with that man on my mind and sought out the interview online. I listened to it again today and was once again affected so much that it resulted in a song. I’ve just done a very quick recording of it in my bedroom and I’ve decided to post it online, along with the lyrics and the CBC interview for you.
I’m not sure what my ‘job’ as a singer/songwriter is supposed to be sometimes, but it seems to me that it should be to process some of what’s going on in this world and turn it into music. That’s really why I am compelled to write. Normally, the process of actually getting the song out there takes a long time (as I’m living right now going through the process of recording another album). I decided that I didn’t want to wait to put this one out there.
I don’t understand, on an emotional, naïve level, WHY people have to kill each other. That’s never made sense to me and I hope it never does. I imagine many of you feel the same way. Here’s my offering/plea for a change, do with it whatever you’d like.
Hope you’re all safe and sound, much love PEter

Hello
Mile-Runners!
I
just got back from a trip hiking in the deep woods of
Virginia. It was SO gorgeous there... Glad to be back
though; it's definitely time to catch up with all of
you!
Well..NXNE
was a GREAT night, thanks to all of you who came out and
‘friendly-fied’ the room for us. Since then, all our
attention has been focused on pre-production for the new
album. We’ve got 14 songs as contenders but ideally I’d
like the album to be 10 songs (all my favorite albums
are 10 songs, feels like the right number… I’m a sucker
for bonus tracks though… so maybe 10 +1)
All this to say, for the first time in a LONG time, the
‘shows’ page will seem a little sparse. BUT, in a very
short time I will have a HUGE touring schedule to
present to you. I’m going all across this beautiful
country once again in the fall, hitting everywhere I
played last time + everywhere I missed (East Coast here
I come!). The ever growing team is plotting a massive
tour schedule, including dates in the U.S. So, please
stay tuned for that.
In the meantime, I have a little project for all of you…
I recently wrote a new song for my sister and her
husband for their wedding and it got me thinking… The
way that I wrote the song for them was I sent them each
a letter asking them to tell me their ‘story’ (about how
they met, fell in love, the circumstances and details of
how it all ‘happened’) What I got back from them were 2
incredible letters that left me totally inspired,
pouring out pages and pages of potential lyrics for
their song. Many of you also know that my song ‘The
Fence’ was written using the play ‘The Laramie Project’
and the events surrounding Matthew Sheppard’s death as
inspiration. Similarly, with ‘The Fence’, I used a
source outside of my immediate self as my starting
point. I’ve also recently done a lot of writing for
modern dance which is another great source of
inspiration for me.
Point made: here’s where you come in…
I’m looking for YOUR stories, your paintings, your
photos, your choreography, whatever you’ve got. Whatever
it is that means something to you, something that you
think could inspire me and (hopefully) result in a piece
of music. There’s no rush or timeline to this, just
something to put away in the back of your mind, and send
along when it hits you. I can obviously make no promises
that I’ll write about what you send me, but I can
definitely promise that I’ll really appreciate you
sending it and give it the time, respect and
consideration that it deserves. I basically want to
compile all the stories, paintings, images,
videos, etc. and have them with me on my tour in the
fall so I can have lots of source material to work from
on the road. You can send them to me anonymously if
you’d like, makes NO difference to me. All I’m
interested in is the content. Write about what it’s like
to be you, what you’ve been thinking about,
what happened to you that knocked you over, that picked
you up, whatever. Don’t think about it too much; don’t
perfect it if you don’t feel like it. I’m not judging
the work, just taking it in. I’d really love some visual
art too, that’s always a great place to work from for
me. Alright, I could go on for hours here but I think
I’ve made my point. Please send whatever you’ve got
along to
peter@peterkatz.com . If you’d prefer snail mail,
then please send anything to WordWide Management attn:
Peter Katz, 507 Queen Street East, Toronto, ON, M5M 1V1
Thanking you in advance for your time and energy!
Time to dive back into the depths of pre-production!!!
Take care,
PEter |

Hello
Mile-Runners!
Much to report, let’s get right to it!
NXNE is this week and our set is June 8th (Thursday) at
midnight sharp at the Drake Hotel underground (1150
Queen St. W, downstairs). This is a REALLY big show for
us so your smiling faces and singing voices would go a
long way. You can either get a wristband for the weekend
(something like $25 bucks for over 300 bands including
Hawksley Workman, Amy Millan, Television, C'MON, David
Celia, Valery Gore, Harmony Trowbridge and so many
more!) You can also just get a pass for the individual
night at the Drake for under $10 (not sure the exact
price) which will get you 5 bands (including yours
truly). Wristbands and such are available now at
www.nxne.com hope to see you there!
For all of you in Montreal: I’m very proud to report
that I have composed a 20-minute score for Andrea
Spaziani’s new contemporary dance piece ‘The Stand’ as
part of her show ‘From Under the Umbrella’ (a
double-bill with dancer/choreographer Geordan Coupland).
I have been locked up in my room tweaking knobs for many
moons now and I’m really really excited about the end
result. I was at rehearsal today adding the finishing
touches and it’s looking/ sounding great! (it will be
touring to a few locations in Canada so stay tuned for
that if you don’t live in Montreal!) Show dates are:
June 9, 8:45 pm/ June 10, 4:45 pm / June 12, 6:30 pm (2
for 1!) / June 14, 8:30 pm / June 16, 5:15 pm / June 17,
5:30 pm. The show is at the MAI, 3680 Rue Jeanne-Mance,
tix are $9 and available through 849-FEST. Visit
www.montrealfringe.ca and
www.andreaspaziani.com for more details.
As an added bonus, I will be performing at the Montreal
Fringe on their outdoor stage on Thursday June 15th at 2
pm sharp (Parc des Ameriques – corner Rachel and
St-Laurent). I’ll be doing a 45-minute solo set so come
on down if you’re up for a free outdoor show!
For all of you who don’t live in Toronto or Montreal, I
have lots of new goodies posted for you here! First of
all, I have posted 4
videos from
the webcast I did back in April with Rob Szabo. Second
of all, I’ve posted ‘Apples’ from our Revival show (with
others to come soon). Third of all, there are
pictures
from the Revival show, and fourth of all there’s even a
new poem.
The really
exciting news though, is that we are in the initial
stages of pre-production for our first, full-band,
full-production, all the bells and whizzers album! I
can’t say too much yet, but we’re rehearsing constantly,
plotting and scheming….can’t wait! Also, my next
national tour itinerary is underway, looks like
Sept/October, I’ll be doing it all over again! (start
emailing ASAP
about house concerts as we’ll need to schedule them in.
They were such a success on the last tour, hopefully we
can do more!)
Alright, as per always, I’ve probably overloaded you
with information; I can rarely help myself… Recap: NXNE
this Thursday night, Fringe show next 2 weeks, online
goodies, new album and tour!
‘nuff said, thanks for your continued support, take
care, PEter |

Hello y'all!
(I just got back from Texas...my sister got married!)
Happy to
report that all is well and good in 'Peter Katz Land'.
Had a great show in Mississauga the other night,
something clicked about halfway through the set... felt
really good about it....
Had an
amazing time in Texas at my sister's wedding and the
song I wrote for her went really well (I think I'm going
to put it on the new album....which, by the way, we
start recording very soon!!!) We're gearing up now
for our NXNE set at the Drake Hotel on Thursday June 8th
at midnight (sharp) which we are SUPER excited about.
It's the Chart Magazine showcase and the other acts are
really solid (including the band ZOX from the US who
I've heard nothing but amazing things about).
Wristbands and such are available now at
www.nxne.com The whole festival is going to be
incredible with artists like Hawksley Workman, Amy
Millan, Television, C'MON, David Celia, Valery Gore,
Harmony Trowbridge and many more all included on one
inexpensive wristband. Hope you can make it out!
My little
campaign from the Montreal show where I asked you to cc
me on emails that you send to friends telling them about
one of our shows (because word of mouth is all we've
got!) went so well that I'm going to extend the offer.
Anybody who cc's me on an email telling their friends
about us or one of our shows will get a hidden link to
all kinds of goodness like exclusive recordings, videos
and poetry. Thanks to all of you who have already
done so!
That's all
for now, I'm off to band practice. Take care and
thanks as always for your support, PEter

Hello Mile-Runners!
There has been a little situation out of our control and
we have been moved from the Main Hall to the Green Room
(5386 St.Laurent) The Green room is literally right next
door to the Main Hall. It's also an amazing venue that
has hosted the likes of Luke Doucet and The Rheostatics
so we're really looking forward to it.
Hope you'll join us tomorrow night!
Take care, PEter
n.b. THANK YOU for your overwhelming responses to my
word-of-mouth email requests. As I said, the Green Room
is right next to the Main Hall and signs will be posted,
so if you've sent your Montreal friends to the Main
Hall, they'll still find us! Thanks again for your
heart-melting support...

Hello Mile-Runners!
Well...somehow, I (we) have arrived at the end of one
serious
stretch of insanity: the tour is over! We sure went out
with a
bang; the show at Revival was one of the greatest nights
for me
and for everyone in the band: thank you so much for
being a
part of it (both in person and in spirit). Our max count
at the
door was 340 people! Hopefully you all had as great of a
time
as we did.
To make things even sweeter, I was treated to an 'end of
tour'
surprise party on Saturday night by my band and
management (funny story: some people who heard about the
party but couldn't make it, thought it was all for my
birthday (which it wasn't) so they baked me a cake for
the following night! ---I managed to get a whole
birthday weekend with no actual birthday!! Kind of nice
because my actual birthday is the day after Christmas
and I never really get to celebrate with friends.) All
this to say, I've been feeling like a pretty lucky man
these past few days and I have all of you to thank for
that.
Now that I've had nearly 24 hours off, time to start
thinking about what's next!
Well, I have a great Montreal show (this Friday, April
14th opening for Amanda Mabro at Main Hall) but not too
much live playing for the next little while apart from
that. Most of our focus will be on pre-production for
the next album! We're looking around at different
producers, trying to find some funding, distribution,
etc. and basically just trying to do everything in our
power to finally put out our official 'debut full-length
release'(seems funny seeing as I've already put out 2
albums). I've been writing a ton, with much more to come
out and the thought of actually doing a fully produced
album is only fueling the fire. I'll also be spending
some time planning the next tour, eagerly awaiting
a return to all the great cities I visited on this last
one ---and especially those I haven't yet! In the
meantime, we're going to be running some pretty cool
contests online, releasing some recordings online.very
exciting.(can't quite let the cat out of the bag yet.)
and adding even more content to the website for your
perusal (more photos, more videos, more poetry, more
tracks, messageboard re- vamp, etc. etc.).
To kick things off, I want to announce the official
launch of 'Peter
Katz Online Tutorials'! Basically, I get a lot of
requests for tabs and 'what chord is that?' questions
and I'm not the greatest 'tabber' in the world so I
thought I'd do something a little different. The result:
I've created a series of videos (5 so far) where I
awkwardly speak into the camera and show you how I play
each song. I'll be adding more and more as time goes
(and as your requests come in), and there's a section on
the
messageboard ('chords and tabs') where you can help
me out by posting your own tabs, asking questions,
requesting songs to be videotaped, responding to other
people's questions, etc. The tutorials are located in
the 'media'
section of the website so go check it out and let me
know what you think!
Apart from that, time to catch up on all those emails
that I've been ignoring for the past 3 months, maybe
clean my office (certainly my car, it's a bio-hazard
right now.), visit my family, do some laundry, make
rent, ...(yikes).
I need to say one final and huge THANK YOU to all of you
who gave me a place to stay along the road, fed me, came
out to the shows, sang along, bought cd's and t-shirts,
put on shows in your living rooms, etc. etc. The only
reason this whole thing was possible was because of your
generosity and support, I owe you BIG time! I also need
to put in an extra-special thanks to Brent Bain and
WordWide Management for pulling this whole thing off on
the other end ---he is one hard-working guy! Finally, to
Carrie Catherine:
my tour-mate, for simply putting up with me and
'bringing the show' every night.
Well.Spring has arrived, I feel encouraged, rejuvenated
and ready for more! See you soon (Montreal very soon!).
MUCH love, Peter
n.b. For those of you who missed the webcast but would
still like to see it (before I put it up on the site,
eventually) I just found out that it's on a perpetual
loop at
www.cast2net.com . Just give it a few seconds to
load, it's there (though it's on a loop so you might
have to wait to catch your section of choice ---Rob
Szabo's set is definitely worth watching)

Greetings
again from the Canadian road! (snow-bound in Thunder Bay
right now…highway is closed…O Canada)
First things first, the tour blog has been updated many
times since my last email with tons of photos & stories
so if you’d like the whole scoop complete with over 100
photos, just click
here
In tour-related news, I’m very excited to announce a few
things:
As you probably know from my mailings and tour blogs,
this 2-month tour will be culminating in a BIG
full-band, special guests-extravaganza at Revival (783
College St W) in Toronto on FRIDAY April 7th
at 9 pm. I can tell you already: this will be our
biggest show yet! I already have a few special guests
confirmed (including violinist Drew Jurecka of Jeff
Healey’s band, guitarist Oliver Johnson (Ivana Santilli,
Esthero), drummer Greg Wilkinson (Shawn Hewitt) as well
as my stellar band (Scott Montgomery on Bass, Ben
Harrison on keys, Sheena Turcotte on backup vocals)
…with a few more surprises to be added. I also have 2
AMAZING opening acts, Mike Evin (recently released an
incredible album, produced by Jim Creegan of the
Barenaked Ladies and is currently working on his
follow-up with Don Kerr (Ron Sexsmith, Peter Elkas)) and
Disques 21/SRI Canada recording artist Amanda Mabro and
the Cabaret Band. Needless to say, I’m very VERY
excited about the line-up.
Tickets are on-sale now! Please visit
ticketweb $10 advance, 15 at the door.
Just to add to the excitement of the evening, there are
a whole bunch of fun promo contests/events going on
surrounding this concert:
1. ANYONE who buys their ticket(s) in advance (either
online through
ticketweb or in person from any band member/street
team rep) will automatically receive a FREE,
limited-edition disc at the door with unreleased
recorded tracks as well as a few select LIVE recordings
from our CD release and NYE show! Not only do you save
$5 off the door ticket price, you ALSO get a free CD!
Tickets are on-sale now!
2. I will be doing an exclusive webcast in Toronto with
friend/hero Rob Szabo on April 5th as a bit
of a pre-show to the 7th,. This will be
broadcast online worldwide at
http://www.cast2net.com and will feature me doing a
30-minute intimate solo set at 7:30 pm, followed by the
screening of Rob Szabo’s DVD and a live performance by
him. This is a very exciting opportunity for me AND …I
am allowed to bring 10 audience members! …so, I thought
I’d run a little trivia contest! As an added bonus, if
you win a pair of tickets to come to this live
broadcast, I will give you a FREE PAIR OF TICKETS TO THE
APRIL 7th REVIVAL SHOW!
All you have to do is answer this little question:
“In which city on our tour were Carrie and I met with a
room of rowdy English lads?”
Hint: check the
tour blog
for
the answer...
So there you have it folks, 2 very exciting promo
opportunities! The first 5 people to reply (email
shapeofaboy@rogers.com) get 2 tickets each to be
audience members at the exclusive webcast on the 5th
and 2 free tickets to the April 7th Revival
show! ALL advance ticket buyers for the April 7th
show get the free bonus disc! – and if you’re not in
Toronto to participate in the contests, well you can
still tune in to the
webcast from wherever you may be in the world and
then catch highlights, photos and such from the Revival
show on the website soon after the fact.
Apart from that, the tour is going really well, just had
a few great shows in a row in Calgary, Saskatoon,
Winnipeg…We’re unfortunately snowbound in Thunder Bay
and all the roads are closed BUT, we’ve definitely
breached the ‘hump’ and are on our way home! We’ve
added a few dates, including London on March 16 and
Hamilton March 21 so please check the
shows section
for details.
Last but not least, we’ve gotten some great reviews, I
just posted one of them in the
‘press’ section
of the website from SEE magazine.
That’s all folks, thank you so much for your
unbelievable support this whole tour, see you soon! Take
care, Peter |

Happy New Year again… (sheepishly late)
Truth be told, I didn’t get a real break leading up to
the New Years Eve show so I finally took one right after
(it had been a long time coming, and was MUCH needed).
So I’m back, refreshed (I think) and rarin’ to go.
Before I go any further, I must say this: THANK YOU for
making 2005 such a wonderful year. I rarely ever look
back, doesn’t seem to be much point, but if I dare take
a little glance back, a LOT has happened this year and I
have much to be grateful for. I (we) played over 80
shows in 3 different countries (including 2 weeks in
Mexico!), gained management with Brent Bain of WordWide
Management, agency representation by Paul Gourlie of the
Agency Group, recorded a new disc ‘Split’ , released it
with the full-band in 4 major cities and independently
sold over 850 copies since September, played at great
venues like the MOD Club, The Opera House, The Rivoli,
the Black Sheep (to name a few of our faves) opened for
bigger bands like Bedouin Soundclash and The Cat Empire,
received the CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award, won
IndieWeek, got to play at the Ottawa Folk Fest (and eat
lasagna
next to Jim Cuddy), appeared on Global TV and various
radio stations, got a new home on the web, met all kinds
of great new people and musicians, added new members to
the band (and MANY guests), wrote a pile of new songs,
shared a towel with Scottie… Feels funny to write it all
out like that, a lot really has changed and grown… All
this has only been possible because of the support that
I (we) have received from all of you, coming out to
shows, singing along, emailing your well-wishes and
feedback
(even though I sometimes take forever to reply..),
helping us out with places to stay, suggesting venues,
festivals, requesting our CD at stores, on the radio,
and so on. We are so thankful.
So… 2006 has arrived; we kicked it off at the Rivoli
with a 2 ½ hour show! (what a crazy night…photos are up
online with video and AUDIO(!) to follow soon). Now it’s
time to hit the road; I’ll be going solo across the
country, starting on Feb 9th, sharing dates with the oh
so darling Carrie Catherine, returning in March/April
for a string of full-band shows. Details on all such
things will be announced very shortly (VERY shortly…).
In the meantime, for all you Montrealers, I have a
super-intimate solo show tomorrow night (Friday the
13th…) at Casa del Popolo (4873 St Laurent blvd) with 2
wonderful acts, Amanda Mabro and Mike Evin. These are 2
artists that I wholeheartedly support so if you’re in
the neighborhood, please come on down for a great
evening of music in a beautifully-intimate room. I go on
first at 9 pm so please please come early! That’s all
for now, don’t mean to gush too much so I’ll say one
final THANK YOU that I really
mean. Can’t wait to hit the road and meet many of you
who have been supporting us but have never been able to
come to a show because you lived too far away (I’m
coming!). Hope you had a great year as well, take care,
much love, PEter

Hello and
Happy New Year!
Well, we
somehow managed to pull it off last night (thanks to all
of you). We had over 150 people out, played for 2
1/2 hours, shared the stage with the amazing Rob Szabo
Band and Shannon Lee Briggs, toasted an entire case of
champagne at midnight and had an all-round great time.
I still can't quite believe that this has come and gone,
so much build-up and preparation... It was a total
pleasure sharing the night with all of you, thank you
for coming out and living it up!
Things will
take a slight pause for the month of January as we hit
the studio to record a tune ('Pictures') with Mike
Turner at the Pocket Studios (one of our prizes from
IndieWeek). We're pretty excited about it!
Tour dates are also being finalized for my solo stint
with Carrie Catherine (www.carriecatherine.com)
across Canada. Please check back in the shows
section soon as I'll be making the date announcements
within the next few weeks! The full-band will be
back in action in March on the tail-end of the tour,
including back-to-back nights at the Rivoli and several
other cities. All in all, 2006 is already off to a
great start; thank you for an amazing 2005!
I'm actually
taking a break for about 5 days; it has been a long time
coming so I'm pretty darn excited!
Hope all is
well wherever you may be, thank you for your support and
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
much love,

Ola senor and senorita Mile-Runners!
(my Spanish is getting better by the minute…)
Life in Mexico is going well, been playing some great
shows, meeting lots of new people and taking in the
Mexican nightlife (a lot…) According to the locals
I’m still really white (I grew up on 30 sunblock… I fear
the sun!) I think I’m pretty tan… I’ll write
a proper blog/report on the messageboard soon (internet
access has been a little tricky). Needless to say,
much planning has still been going on and I want to
announce that tickets are now ON SALE for our BIG New
Year’s Eve show at the Rivoli. We are going ALL
out for this show; we’ll be playing for over 2 hours
(even some covers…) and will have several special guests
joining us throughout the night. We will also have
the WONDERFUL Rob Szabo Band sharing the night (www.robszabo.com
). There is a lot of publicity going into this
show on the Rivoli’s part too so I highly recommend
getting your tickets ASAP. They are $25 in
advance, $30 at the door ( I know this is higher than
normal BUT, this is a very special show and considering
what it costs to get in most places on NYE, this is a
steal!) Not to mention that a toast at midnight is
included in your ticket and we’ll also be trying to get
some light finger foods. The Rivoli is also
offering a $20 ticket with meal package so be sure to
check with them at
www.rivoli.ca for those details. There’ll also
be a live DJ to fill in all the gaps, all in all, a
great way to welcome the new year! Tickets are
available at the Rivoli as well as online through
ticketweb.
PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS
Hope all is well back home (I’ve heard reports of
snow-storms…) My flight has been delayed until Monday so
I’m ‘stuck’ here a few more days…
Official reports, photos, etc. from Mexico coming soon!
n.b. Just another little tidbit of news, I am officially
touring this great nation in Feb/March so look out for
that if you’re sad that you’re missing out on the New
Year’s action in Toronto. I’ll save a piece (of
the action) and bring it on the road with me in the new
year!

Hello Mile-Runners!
I am nearing the end of an extremely BUSY stretch of
tour dates and other music-related insanity; it felt
pretty great to be a full-time musician --for a brief
little while at least… There have been so many great
things that have happened since my last update (it’s
been too busy to update!) so here’s a little run-down:
The CD release in Toronto at the Rivoli was a wonderful
celebration (with up to 7 musicians up on stage at some
points!) Thanks to all of your support we sold over 200
copies of ‘Split’ that night alone. Kitchener CD release
was a wonderful evening as well (such a great intimate
venue…) We’re all really looking forward to the CD
release shows in Wakefield-Ottawa (THIS Sat Oct 22nd at
The Black Sheep with Jacob Two-Two!) and especially
Montreal at Petit Campus (Fri, Nov 4th with Katie
Sevigny and Natasha and Izz of Pigeon Hole!)
In other news, a bit of good fortune came our way a few
weeks ago when we were named the grand prize winners at
IndieWeek (over 300 bands applied to the festival, 60 or
so were chosen to perform). We won all kinds of great
prizes that will definitely help us along the way.
Thanks again to those who came out to support us and
much thanks also to the incredible bands we got to meet
over the course of the weekend. The Canadian Indie music
scene is alive and well!
Another exciting
event that happened to us recently was that we got to
play the Opera House, opening for the unbelievable Cat
Empire (double platinum in Australia) For those of you
who were there, I’m sure it was evident on all of our
faces how thrilled we were to be there… a waking-dream,
still haven’t quite processed it…
So….onto the future! Big focus right now of course is on
our Ottawa-area CD release this Saturday night at the
Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield with Jacob Two-Two. We have
wanted to play with these guys (and gal) for a LONG time
and are delighted to be doing so at one of our most
favorite venues of all time. If you’re in the Ottawa
area, please come on down (and spread the word…) As an
added bonus, it is our CD release so you will be able to
get an uber-discounted copy of our new disc “Split” with
your ticket purchase. After Ottawa, we have the Montreal
CD release on Nov 4th at Petit Campus (another venue
we’re eager to play). That will be our final CD release
show and it's going to be a BIG one. Your $10 ticket
will get you 3 acts AND a copy of the CD!
Following
the end of the CD release tour, I am very excited to
report that we will be playing the MOD Club in Toronto
on Friday Nov 11th (finer details to follow, but mark
your calendar, it’s going to be a big one!). After that,
I head off to Mexico for 2 weeks to play a series of
dates at Karmina Palace (a resort there) should be
pretty fun…
Finally, I have posted some great video footage, photos,
etc. from the Toronto CD release at on this site in the
'media'
section. I have more material (including live audio)
that I will try to get up as soon as humanly possible
--The messageboard is also growing steadily so if you’d
like to chat music, read personal blogs and more then
please come visit our online community –I try to write a
personal blog at least once a week or so)
I think that’s all for now. Pretty long update but it’s
been too long! Hope all is well with all of you. Take
care, thank you for your support and much love, Peter
n.b. Just a
quick reminder that “Split” is available right now
online through CD baby and Indiepool and it is also
available at all stores nationwide (if you ask them,
they can order it ---some places have even been reported
to be stocking it!)

I am very very excited to report that we were voted the
#1 band at Indieweek! There were a lot of amazing
bands that we got to meet and share the stage with; lots
of different styles and genres, I feel pretty lucky and
honored about this whole thing (WE do, it was
definitely a full-band effort!) I just want to say
thanks to everyone who came out and supported us, and to
all the great volunteers at IndieWeek that made things
happen.
Time for bed as I'm beyond exhausted after these past 2
nights of playing and taking it all in. Thanks as
always for your incredible support and open-hearts, much
love PEter

Hello Mile-Runners!
What an AMAZING night we had on Thursday! Thank
you thank you thank you! We had over 200 people
come out to celebrate with us (and thus 200 people out
there listening to the new disc ---feedback is most
welcome...I'm waiting for someone to start a thread on
the messageboard...) If you had a good time on
Thursday and you want more or if you missed the show and
want to catch another one... we are very excited to
announce our participation in IndieWEEK. Our showcase
will be THIS Friday night (Sept 23rd at Holy Joe's
-details in the
shows section). It's a tiny room so it should
be an extremely intimate show (but with the full band).
I really hope you can make it out, find out more
information at
www.indieweek.com
On a more personal note: Thursday night truly was a
wonderful celebration for all of us. It blew us
away to hear all of you singing along to all the songs
and giving us so much. I don't know where everyone
came from, I don't know why you've decided to be so
generous with us, but we REALLY do appreciate it, and
hope to see you again soon. Take care, thanks
again and much love from myself and everyone in the
band, PEter

A few more words about the show: We are going to have a
GREAT time! I have several incredible guest musicians

Apart from that, just wanted to say thanks to everyone

forward to an even busier gig schedule over the next few
months. I hope you're all doing very well in all your
own endeavors, please come celebrate with us this
Thursday night if you're able. Take care and thanks
again for your support!

Hey Folks!
Well, I'm finally back from
BC and Ottawa. I had a marvelous time all-round,
met and played with some RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING musicians
and can't wait to do it all again real-soon (CD RELEASE
AND SOLO DATES ARE FILLING IN! Check out the
shows section)
The Ottawa Folk Fest was so re-energizing (I sat down to
have dinner the first night in the artist' lounge and
Jim Cuddy and Baz from Blue Rodeo were sitting right
there...) I saw Feist, The Weakerthans, Joel
Plaskett, etc. etc. a TOTAL thrill for me. I also
got to receive my CBC award in front of 4000 people on
the mainstage! (pics to follow soon...)
Now it's time to put ALL my
energy into the big CD release taking place at the
Rivoli on Thurs Sept 15th. I've got some great
guest musicians who will be coming up throughout the
night, including Drew Jurecka (of Jeff Healey's Band).

Hello Mile-Runners!
It's been a little while since my last update and I
felt it was time to check in. Most pressing bit of
information: The new EP is finished! It is in our
hands, anxiously wanting to leave our hands and be
taken home at a CD release near you (more on that in
just a minute). As a little preview, 2 of the songs
are now available for you to listen to and download on
my myspace account at
www.myspace.com/peterkatz (I think you have to be
a member, I know many of you are, if you're not, it's
free and you will not be added to any spam lists or
anything). 1 minute samples are also available in the
media section of this site .
My only request is that if you do download the tracks;
please help spread the word!
As far as you getting a copy of it. it will be
available at select shows (ie. B.C. dates, Ottawa Folk
Fest) in advance. The big night though, where it will
officially be released, is THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 15th at
the Rivoli in Toronto (tickets available now, see
below for details). We will have the full-band,
special guests (we're already in rehearsals!) and the
incredible Layah Jane will be opening (www.layahjane.com)
On the 15th, the disc will also become available
NATIONWIDE at HMV's, Chapters, Indigo, Sam's and a
whole whack of other places (although they won't put
it in the shelves right away, you have to order
it..but if enough people order it, they stock it!).
Also, we are in the final stages of booking full-band
CD releases for Kitchener/Waterloo, Peterborough,
Ottawa (Black Sheep Inn) and the already confirmed
MONTREAL CD release, Friday NOV 4th at PETIT CAMPUS. I
am also booking solo dates for many other
Ontario/Quebec/U.S. cities including (Guelph, London,
Windsor, Hamilton, St Catharines, Kingston,
Mississauga, Burlington VT, Northeast U.S., Buffalo
and more, as well as an intimate solo-acoustic date in
Toronto). Needless to say, there will be many shows
that you can pick it up at if you don't get it in
stores. Also, it will be available worldwide through
online retailers such as cdbaby.com, freshtracks.com,
etc. Finally, it will be available for download
worldwide at places like puretracks, itunes, etc.etc.
Alright, I think I've made my point.you'll be able to
get it.
For the first time, tickets for the CD release in
Toronto will be available for purchase in advance
through Ticketweb. Starting today, you can go to
http://ca.ticketweb.com/t3/event/EventListings?orgId=10499
and safely purchase your ticket (s) for the show. I
highly recommend this as capacity at the Rivoli is
only 200. Tickets for other dates will likely be
available through ticketweb as well, I'll let you know
if/when they are.
I must say, it feels pretty great to finally put this
recording behind us. It's been a long 4 months doing
it ourselves, trying to figure everything out, but
holding the disc in our hands proves instantly
worthwhile. I can't wait to see what you think.. I
should also mention (seeing as I had nothing to do
with it), that it physically looks incredible. Justin
Broadbent (www.justinbroabent.com)
did a gorgeous design job on it; his ability to
translate the music into a physical product was
actually quite touching (you'll see what I mean...)
Alright, that's it for now. Sorry for the novel, but
it has been a while. Once again, tickets are NOW on
sale for the Toronto CD release at
http://ca.ticketweb.com/t3/event/EventListings?orgId=10499
Hope you're all doing very well, take care and we'll
see you
soon! Peter

Hey Folks!
Well, the new double-EP
is OFFICIALLY out of our hands. I dropped it off
at IndiePool today and it will be sent off to the
factory tomorrow for reproduction. 3 weeks and
it's mine! all mine! (aka yours!) Hope
you've already marked your calendars for the Thursday
Sept 15th show at the Rivoli. I'm already
getting the 'special guests' together and I assure
you, it's going to be a GREAT night. (other CD
releases in other cities to follow soon!)
Now that we're FINALLY
done with the recording, Alex, Scottie, Sheena, Drew
and I will be returning to regular rehearsals and
getting some of the new material together. I'm
also itching to do a cover (I've got a couple in mind
but if you know of any that you think we might be able
to pull-off, drop me a line at
peter.katz@rogers.com
) I'm also busily working with Brent (my new
promo & press angel) to get some serious tour dates
together for the fall. We're hoping to do all
the major stops in Ontario and Quebec (and all the
little ones in between...keep those emails coming if
you want us to make sure we're coming your way!).
I've also got some dates out in B.C., hopefully I'll
be adding more on that end of the country too!
I'm also dying to hit the East Coast.... one step at a
time....
In the meantime, July
will be somewhat quiet with some one-offs in and
around the city. I will be taking the time this
month though to get some new content up on the site
(as promised ages ago), including video tutorials,
some new poetry (finally) as well as lots of new
photos and lyrics. Keep your eyes peeled for all
that over the next couple of weeks. Oh yes, THE
MESSAGEBOARD! I will now be keeping a more
personal journal up on the messageboard in the blogs
section. It will be less 'business' minded than
what goes on in this news section, more of an
opportunity to unwind, collect thoughts and interact
as a human being rather than a promo-machine. Hope you
can visit and join our ever-increasing community! (the
messsageboard is linked at the top of this page in
case you're looking for it...)
That's all for now, hope
you're all doing well and enjoying the summer!
Take care, PEter

Hey Folks!
NXNE was a total thrill
for me! thanks for coming out and helping to
dilute the 'industry-pressure'. On to other
exciting things, "Jane" is up and running in Montreal.
It's a stunning piece of dance (and I happened to
write the music for it). Needless to say, I
HIGHLY recommend it! It runs until Sunday, in
Montreal, at the MAI (3680 Jeanne-Mance)
Box
Office and Hotline:
(514) 849-FEST
Remaining shows:
June
15 @ 4:45pm June 16 @ 8:00pm June 18 @ 10:45pm June19
@ 5:15pm I'm extremely exhausted so I'm going to
hit the sack but I hope you're all doing well.
I'll be at the Wed and Thurs show, hopefully I'll see
ya'll there! Take care, PEter
n.b.
I made a resolution to write a more in-depth blog when
I get back from Montreal. Stay tuned for that on
the messageboard. I've also got some new poetry,
let's see if I can muster up the courage to post it...

Hello Mile-runners!
Lots of goodness has been happening around here: a
whack of great gigs, recording and some other really
exciting things (including new music posted for
you….***Check the MUSIC
SECTION*.
First bit of news, I was very honored to have recently
received the CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award! -as well
as a spot in the Ottawa Folk Festival (aug 19-21).
That means I’ll actually get to share the stage with
some really really amazing performers (past performers
include Sarah Harmer, Broken Social Scene,
Emmylou Harris, Ron Sexsmith!.....all this is
unbelievable to me)
Beyond that, just around the corner is our
full-band showcase at NXNE on Saturday June 11th
at 9 pm (sharp) at THE RIVOLI. For those of
you that don’t already know, NXNE is an incredible
festival that takes place right here in Toronto and
there are a ton of excellent bands from all over the
place that show up and play over a very intense 4
days. Some of this year’s highlights include:
The Rheostatics, The Golden Dogs, Waking Eyes, Royal
Wood, 54-40 to name a few. You can buy
full-festival passes for only 24$ or you can get
individual night passes (not sure the exact price on
those, I think last year it was 7 or 8 $), either way,
it’s an amazing deal. Our night is the Agency
Group showcase so it should be a pretty solid line-up.
Visit
www.nxne.com for more details.
In other exciting news, I composed a 30 minute piece
for the incredibly talented choreographer/dancer
Andrea Spaziani which will be touring to the Montreal
Fringe Festival in June. The piece is called
‘Jane’ and it is absolutely stunning (the music is not
too shabby as well….ahem..) It will be playing
at the MAI (3680 Rue Jeanne-Mance, bureau 103) on June
10 @ 9:15 pm, June 12 @ 4 p.m. (2for1), June 15 @ 4:45
pm, June 16 @ 8:00 pm, June 18 @ 10:45 pm and June 19
@ 5:15 pm. Tix are 9$ at the door or in advance
by calling 514 849-FEST. I will be in attendance
on the 15th
and 16th so hopefully I’ll see you there.
Apart from those 2 major happenings, one other
important thing of note: the EP is 1 more day away
from being completely mixed; we’ll be mastering in
about a week and a half and it will go to print around
June 15th (big CD release in September…but
you’ll be able to get your hands on it earlier. AND
as promised….SAMPLES ARE UP! Get your first
taste in the music section!!
That’s it. I hope you’re all doing really well, I
really hope to see you all at the Rivoli NXNE show on
June 11th (9 pm sharp, the festival runs on
time ---and please do come, I get somewhat intimidated
at these big festivals sometimes and friendly faces
sure make it things better…it’s such a great festival,
you won’t regret it). Alright, enough, take care
and all the best, Peter

Hey Folks!
I am VERY excited to announce that I will be playing
the Ottawa folk festival in August and that I had the
extreme good fortune of winning the CBC Galaxie Rising
Star Award! I really had an amazing time playing at
the finals and can't believe that this actually
happened. I shared first place with the INCREDIBLY
talented and genuine Layah Jane (check her out!
www.layahjane.com). Sometimes in life things work
out kind of nice and I'm very grateful for this one
(plus my mom came all the way from Vermont and my
grandma and grandpa and cousin were there.... I was
pretty spoiled...) Thanks to everyone for the support
-Ottawa, I'll be back next weekend at the Black Sheep
Inn! Take care and have a great night, love PEter

Hey Folks!
Just a quick update to let you know
that I will be playing at Revival in Toronto on Monday
night as part of the Save Darfur benefit concert. This
is an extremely important cause and I’m very honored
to be a part of it. Below is a copy of the email I
received from Project Humanity with more details about
the event:
--- In
early 2003 the crisis in Sudan erupted into open
conflict and has unfortunately been following in the
footsteps of past genocides such as Rwanda and the
Holocaust. The crisis is an age old conflict between
the north and the south that is currently resulting in
mass murders, rape, imprisonment and physical
displacement which will eventually lead to the loss of
an entire people. In the past, the world has managed
to turn a blind eye in the face of such human
atrocities. However, we need to learn from the past
and not let this happen on our watch. It is sometimes
hard to keep this as a part of our consciousness given
the pace at which we lead lives. This is why we want
to bring you an event and an opportunity to do
something about this crisis within the path of your
daily life. On May 16th at Revival Lounge we will be
hosting a night of music to raise money for Doctors
Without Borders (who are working on the front lines),
and savedarfur.org (who seek to raise awareness and
enforce political accountability). Our artists include
such names as Dylan Murray, Belladonna, The Flipside
Collective, Peter Katz and many more. We will have
live visual artists who will be auctioning off their
work to the highest bidder throughout the night. There
will be prizes raffled off that include $100
certificate to The Flight Center, a 10 class pass to
the Downward Dog Yoga Studio, Blue Jays tickets, and a
$150 ticket to the Princess Margaret Lottery. Most
importantly, you will be immersed in a crowd of
socially conscious human beings out to make a
difference. We look forward to seeing you on Monday
May 16th @ Revival Lounge 783 College St. Show starts
at 9pm (sharp!). $10 at the door. $2 off with green
ribbon (attached on flyers). Help us break the cycle.
Genocide will not happen on our watch ----
Hopefully
you will be able to make it out, should be a great
night of art and music. Hope you're all doing well,
thanks for your wonderful support at recent gigs. Take
care, love PEter

Thanks to everyone for
coming out to the show last night. The band and
I had a great time and we hope you enjoyed the new
material. In other exciting news, I just found
out that I got a call-back for the Ottawa folk
Festival. I went down a few weeks ago for the
preliminary rounds and they've called back 3 artists
out of 20, and I'm one of them!! So... the
finals are actually a big shindig at the National Arts
Centre in Ottawa and they're open to the public!
If you're in the area or you've got any friends that
you'd like to send on over then please help spread the
word as it should would take some pressure off to play
to some friendly faces. You can also think of it
as a mini-preview of the Black Sheep Inn show the
following weekend... Hope you're all well,
here's the info below:
When: Sunday May 15th, 2pm (doors at 1:30)
Location: Fourth Stage, National Arts Centre
Price:
$5

Greetings mile runners,
It’s been a little while
since my last update. I've been crazy busy with
moving and being all over the place. Lots to
report, most importantly BIG GIG THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AT
THE RIVOLI. I will be joined by the full 5 piece
band, doors are at 9 pm, opening acts are amazing
(Peirson Ross and Rob Szabo Band
www.robszabo.com <--- sooo good), tix are 8$.
Please help spread the word!
In other news, the
messageboard is coming to life, but still rather
slowly. For those who are interested in building
the community and meet fellow music lovers, please
visit the board and sign up so you can post and reply
to messages (you will not be added to any other lists
or spammed or anything like that, your email is just
for verification)
Also, I’m working on
developing a video tutorials section for the site for
those of you who have been requesting them. I
should have it done within the next few weeks
(hopefully….)
In gig news,
please check the 'shows' section to see if I’m coming
to a town near you (If I’m not, please send me a
request at
shapeofaboy@rogers.com and I’ll see what I can
do…. I’m looking to do a solo tour this summer and
need some venue and city suggestions)
I think that’s it for
now. On a personal note, I moved into a new
place a few days ago, it’s full of boxes…but splendid
(I actually see only trees out my window!) I
should also report that I had a great time on my
little vacation with my sister and Mikayla (see
pictures of her cuteness below). EP is almost
done…. Hope all is well with you, take care,
love Peter
n.b. Hey,
I just got played on CBC!!! very cool!

Arghhhhh, soooo busy,
just moved, lots of gigging. I'll write a proper
update very shortly (pictures of Mikayla too!)
In the meantime, please come to the show on Friday May
6 at the Rivoli! We're rehearsing hard, getting
together a bunch of new material and re-working of old
stuff, it's going to be a great night and Rob Szabo
and Peirson Ross are REALLY excellent too.
Alright, I'm off to a gig at the Drake (all
afternoon!) Hope all is well, I'll write a full
update within the next couple of days. Take care, love

I just finished 2 LONG weeks in the studio; the first
week was spent at home finishing off the music for
“Jane”, a 30 minute modern dance solo by
dancer/choreographer Andrea Spaziani.
Watching the completed piece was by far one of
the best experiences of my life; Andrea was
unbelievable and had the audience in tears and on
their feet (-video highlights will be on the site
relatively soon, it will be running at the Montreal
Fringe Festival too in June at the MAI so be sure to
catch in then! …details closer to that time) Once that
was finished, the band and I dove back into working on
our new double EP. With Alex
working away at the helm, we’re getting some sounds
that we’re really happy with and are soon approaching
completion…(well, relatively soon...) As I’ve said
before, we’re going for 2 really different EP’s on one
disc: one half will be a produced full-band vibe, the
other half will be a live-off the floor sparse
acoustic vibe. I’m pretty
excited about it and can’t wait for you all to hear
it…We also just found out that Sam the Record Man
wants to feature us on their Indie Compilation CD! One
of the new tracks (IX) will be on there and widely
available!
On a personal note, I’m
taking a week off. I’ve been
going somewhat non-stop since Christmas and I’ve
decided to drop everything and spend a week traveling
around with my sister and my little 7-month old niece
Mikayla (cutest baby ever, don't even try to tell me
otherwise...pictures upon my return as proof).I am
very very excited and will hopefully be rejuvenated
for what is gearing up to be a darn busy April-May
schedule. On that note, be
sure to visit the SHOWS
section, there are a lot of new dates up there.
Before you do, just a little note: the messageboard is
up and running and is in need of YOU.
There are all kinds of topics there, blogs from
everyone in the band and you can even start your own
topic. Come join the
community, click on the word 'messageboard' at the top
of the page or click on the link here:
http://peterkatz.proboards43.com/ ) That's
it for now, I'll bring pictures and more upon my
return. Hope you're all doing well and take
care, PEter

Hey guys and gals,
I'm finally finished my
composition for the dance piece I've been slaving away
at for the past little while. Just in time too,
the show opens tonight! (Ryerson Theatre 43
Gerrard St E. 7pm as part of New Voices Festival TIX 416
979 5118) The piece is called "Jane" and is
choreographed by the very wonderful Andrea Spaziani.
It's a 30 minute solo and I've created a continuous
musical soundscape/soundtrack for the whole thing.
It's definitely not like anything you've heard from me
(no acoustic guitar and no vocals!). I basically
locked myself in my panic room/office and created all
kinds of sounds and themes and I'm pretty darn excited
about it. I will be videotaping it and posting
excerpts at some point. It will be running for a
full week and a half at the Montreal Fringe Festival too
so if you miss it in Toronto, maybe you can catch it
there (details later --I might not get to videotape it
until then too, we'll have to see). Now that
that's over with, I can re-focus on getting the new EP
done. I'm starting to think about artwork and
deciding which songs of the ones we've recorded I'd like
to put on it (and we'll still be recording a few more).
I'm also putting some more packages together to try and
get some gigs happening in Guelph, Kingston and beyond.
In retrospective news, I want to thank everyone so much
for your amazing support at the recent gigs. That
evening in Waterloo meant a great deal to me, possibly
the most attentive audience I've ever had. The
other acts were great too, hopefully I'll be at another
one of those gatherings again soon. Extra special thanks
to the host, Lucas Stagg (check him out at
www.lucastagg.com
-he's got a CD release on April 23rd too in Waterloo).
I think that's it, I'm off to tech-rehearsal for New
Voices, here's hopin... Take care, love PEter
n.b. another little bit of
exciting news, I had my first REAL print interview
yesterday. Lifestyles Magazine will be doing a
feature on me! I'll definitely let you know when
it's coming out.

Hey folks,
Just got back from a
little evening session of recording at Alex's house.
I realized today that I'm really darn impatient
(probably my greatest strength and weakness at the
same time). I want another recording so badly
but I'm not as willing to wait for it as perhaps I
should be. I'm learning though, it'll come in
time. Right now we're focusing on getting this
EP done, but 'done' is not what's important. We
actually want it to sound good. It'll be
completely in-house, quite literally, done in Alex's
basement (although he knows what he's doing so that's
not a bad thing...it's actually a good thing, no
money-sucking time clock...). We're looking at 6
songs, 3 upbeat-ish full-band and 3 folkier, acoustic
with some possible arrangement. This is really
our first attempt to see what we can come up with on
our own and take the time to find our sound. I'm
really excited about it, we'll see what we end up
with.
Apart from that, I'm working away like a fiend on the
continuation of the soundscape that I created for
Andrea's dance piece in Choreographic Works.
What was 7 minutes in that show, is now 30 minutes in
the upcoming show (New Voices), so I need to create
another 23 minutes of material! ...in a week! It
will likely be a rough-draft of what the actual music
will be for the fringe festivals in the summer.
Oh yes, the Lee's Palace show was such a treat!
I can't tell you how many of my heroes I've seen up on
that stage; it felt so great to stand where they
stood. I kept going backstage throughout the
night, just because I could. Of course, everyone
else was either onstage or out in the bar so I just
kind of hung out there by myself for these little
3-minute stints, quite content with myself that I was
backstage at Lee's Palace... Looking forward to
the gig in Waterloo on Saturday, should be pretty fun
(it's at a guy's loft). Also just found out that
we're going to be playing in Peterborough on April
23rd at the Spill with Jordan Mack, really excited
about that too. Well, time for bed I think; hope
that you're all doing well. Take care and have a
great night, love PEter

Hey Mile-Runners,
WELCOME TO THE NEW Peter
Katz.com! Thanks to boy-wonder Josh Kaplan (*see below
for more details on him*) the new site is looking all
cozy and home-y and is really looking forward to
getting regular visits from you. BIG changes are
the addition of a messageboard where you can make new
e-friends, chat about all kinds of things as well as
read blogs from everyone in the band. I've also
added lyrics, new video footage (INCLUDING my
appearance on GLOBAL TV!), and more. In the near
future, I will be adding new writing, NEW SONGS (full
band!), new photos, live recordings and more.
So...come back often, invite your friends and
hopefully we'll have a nice little e-community cooking
in no time.
BIG piece of news is
that I will be playing at the infamous Lee's Palace
this Saturday night (March 19th) with the amazing
Bedouin Soundclash (www.bedouinsoundclash.com
). These guys are really taking off (they just
got booked on the Vans Warped Tour and are down in
Texas right now play SXSW). They do a sort
of reggae-rock-original blend thing and it's pretty
amazing. The other band is called Matinee Slim
and they seem pretty rockin too. Anyway, it
should be a great night and I'm on first, solo
acoustic. I have to say, it's somewhat
intimidating to be the 'solo-acoustic' guy opening for
2 pretty rockin bands at a place like Lee's so if
you're up for it, then please come on down help fill
the room with friendly-faces. Tix are 10$ in
advance (www.ticketmaster.ca
or at Lee's) or 12$ at the door. As I said, I'm
first up, doors are at 9, I'm on at 9:30 sharp (30
minute set).
In other news, I want
to send out a HUGE thank you to Montreal and Toronto
for 2 great back-to-back shows. The Le Swimming
show went..swimmingly..and Katie Sevigny and Paul
Edwards were both excellent. Pigeon Hole was
VERY sorry that they had to cancel, BUT, they have
said that they really want to reschedule so we'll be
getting that together ASAP. The Toronto benefit
for Project Humanity was definitely one of my favorite
shows ever. The crowd was unbelievable, so
attentive and generous, thank you for that night
(and Project Humanity raised over 2000$ for the Red
Cross!)
Besides the Lee's Palace
and Waterloo shows, the band and I will be focusing on
getting the new demos together. We'll let you
know as soon as we've got something for you...
I hope you're all doing
really well, please keep your venue/show hookups
coming, I REALLY REALLY appreciate them. I will
come play in your town ANY time. Sometimes
I just need some help setting up the show. I'll
play in your house, your backyard, your neigborhood
car wash (or bar or club), anywhere, just help me out
and I'll be there! That's it for now, take care,
love PEter
****ABOUT JOSH KAPLAN:
This guy is amazing. He basically re-did a
preliminary design for my site overnight. He was
great to work with, affordable and did I mention great
to work with. If you like what you see here and
you need a site built, please email him at
graphicearth@gmail.com He is also linked from my
site in the links section******

..... I am soooo tired
right now, I'll have to write a proper welcome message
tomorrow. Just in case you surf on in here
overnight, I hope you like the new site. It nearly
killed me getting it done but here it is. MUCH
thanks is owed to Josh Kaplan for his amazing work,
please, hire him, he is an angel to work with. His
site is in the links section. Alright, I'm going
to bed, can't wait for the show tomorrow. See you
then! love PEter

Hey everyone, I'm pretty
excited to announce that I will be the musical guest on
This Morning Live on Global TV in Montreal (Channel 3)
on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9th at 8:40 a.m. so definitely tune
in for that if you're free. I'll also be appearing
on CKUT on Monday March 7th with Katie Sevigny (details
soon). In other news, we're in the process of
negotiating a few dates in April but hopefully we'll
have some sort of acoustic tour happening. For
those of you who haven't seen the Rivoli video yet,
check it out in the videos section.
Alright, that's enough plugging for one update, what can
I say about me....hmmm.... I'm feeling alright; things
never happen as quickly as I want them too, but they
seem to be happening slowly and somewhat surely so I
can't complain. Getting the new website up is
proving to be an ordeal; it'll come when it comes...
I've started teaching songwriting workshops in high
schools and elementary schools which has been extremely
rewarding to date. We work on all the many aspects
of songwriting and I am consistently blown away by what
these kids come up with. The program I'm
affiliated with is called SASS (www.sasscanada.com) and
they're definitely worth your support if ever you're
interested. That's pretty much it I guess.
I'm dying to play Montreal, it's coming up really soon
(with Pigeon Hole! --do you know that it's been a secret
dream of mine to play with them forever...I feel like
Marky Mark in 'Rockstar'). In the meantime, I'll
be playing a set with the band at TUR's
(www.torontounderground.ca) fundraiser this Saturday
night at Reilly's in Toronto so if you're free then come
on down in the 9 p.m. region. I hope you're all
doing very well, take care and we'll see you soon.
love PEter

The Rivoli show was a blast! Thank you
so much to everyone for coming out and filling the place! Wanna see
yourself on film? Check out the highlight reel from the show and see
if you can find yourself
(RIVOLI)
Couldn't make it out? Draw your face on a napkin and stick it on your
screen while you check out the highlight reel!
(RIVOLI) I
guess I'm saying you should check out the highlight reel... I'm pretty
excited about it and my bum is really tired from being sat on while I was
editing it and would surely appreciate it, but I'll leave it at that (one
note: unfortunately there are not that many shots of Alex, not my fault, but
his excellent drumming is what you are hearing throughout...). I've
also posted some new photos both from the show and from Alex's basement (our
new rehearsal space).
In travel news, Montreal, we are going to be
there in a jiffy, March 10th to be precise (Pigeon Hole is confirmed!), and
all the other cities I keep mentioning, I am still working on finalizing
dates... In other news......ALBUM ALBUM ALBUM. We have BEGUN
serious planning for the new album and could be tracking as early as next
week! Our goal is to have it printed and in your hands by end of
May/June so here's hoping. It'll be full band, mostly new material
(with a few full-band versions of some of our favorites from the old album).
I think that's it. Thanks again so much
for coming out to the Rivoli, it felt so good to be up there and actually
have you guys sing to me! Take care, love PEter

Hello mile-runners!
I am SOOOO excited for Friday night!
It’s been too long without a full-band show and we are clawing at the gate
to get out there play. After an intensive month rehearsing with our
new drummer Alex, he is sounding really solid and we are eager to hit the
stage and play, this Friday night (Feb 4th)
at the
Rivoli (362 Queen St, just east of
Spadina). Also very exciting, will be our openers, Dean (www.deanmusic.org) and
Cy Wilson. Doors open at 9, Dean’s on first, then Cy, then us.
As far as our line-up, for sure Alex, Scottie, Sheena and I will be there,
as well as the choir, but the other guests are still in the process of being
figured out (I had an amazing electric guitarist
lined up, then his other gig got scheduled on our night and he had to
cancel…sadness). Either way, there’ll be
some new material, some new arrangements, and a whole lot of music.
Cover at the door will be 6$ and we’ll have t-shirts and the FEW REMAINING
COPIES of The One Minute Mile Man for sale. Really looking forward to
it!
MONTREAL: There was a slight date change
and we are now 100% confirmed for
THURSDAY MARCH 10th at Le Swimming. I’ll send
all the finalized info later but the oh-so-talented Katie Sevigny (www.katiesevigny.com)
will be opening, and guess who else will be there?…. PIGEON HOLE!!!!
Yes, I am very excited. They haven’t confirmed to me that the entire
band will be there but at the very least, Liz and Natasha will be playing
(and likely the rest, but I’ll know later). That’s going to be a great
night and I’ll be appearing on Global TV either that morning or the morning
before (details soon)... I’ll also be on CKUT on the Monday night with
Katie and hopefully another radio show on the Wednesday but I’ll send all
that along shortly. I can’t wait to come back and play there; I won’t
abandon you for so long ever again, I’m already planning a show with my
friend Matt York (www.matt-york.com) in
May!
Everyone else, we are booking in to
Peterborough, Guelph, London, Waterloo, Wakefield (whoohoo!), Ottawa,
Kingston, and Burlington, VT. None of those shows have been confirmed,
but the train is moving along on all fronts and I will post details as they
come in. If your city is not mentioned in this list, then please help
me out by sending me venue suggestions and I’ll get on it
(peter.katz@rogers.com) .
We've also got our eyes on U.S. cities so don't be shy...
As far as the new webpage goes, we are having
a few delays, but I will definitely let you know when it’s up. In the
meantime, I will always post new videos, photos, writing and more on this
old thing (I’m gearing up for a major update soon, just need to get this
show behind me and then I’ll be on it).
That’s it, I think, I can’t wait to hit the
stage on Friday, hopefully we’ll see you there! Take care, hope you’re
all doing well, and we’ll see you soon. Love PEter
PSA: I will be opening up shop as a guitar
teacher! I’m looking for students from beginner to intermediate,
interested in learning the guitar, with an emphasis on both technique and
theory, but also on songwriting. We can focus on whatever you want,
it's up to you... even playing with your teeth and biting live bats and
chickens without asphyxiating! Electric, acoustic, whatever you’ve
got, we'll do it. So… if you or a friend of yours is interested, then
please drop me a line at
peter.katz@rogers.com My
rate will be 25$ per 45 minute lesson. I’m willing to negotiate rates
(i.e. 1/2 hour for "X", etc, full day for "XXXXXX") but I’m thinking that’s
not too shabby compared to other teachers.
n.b. I WILL be doing an intimate solo show at Free Time's in
the relatively near future so stay tuned for that (VERY intimate, lots
of songs that I never play, that you've probably never heard...)
|
Friday Jan 12th,
2005 |
|
Just a little note to say
that I've added a new page on the site called
COMMUNITY EVENTS (see
above). I've been going to a lot of great art
events in the city and I want to do what I can to help
out by posting them on the site. I've also updated
my
LINKS page so check those out
too if you want some musical suggestions.... Hope
you're all doing well, I can't wait for the show on the
4th at the Rivoli (it's gonna be BIG one!)
Also, the show in Montreal is on March 10th , not March
3rd -just a little change, it's still on a Thursday
(openers are soooooooo exciting, details soon...)
Take care, love PEter

Greetings and Happy New Year Mile-Runners!
First of
all I want to thank you all for a wonderful 2004. I did a little
number crunch this morning and realized that we played over 40 shows last
year! So thank you for coming out, singing along, playing the CD and
just generally being a part of this.
2005 is
upon us and we’ve got lots of exciting things on the horizon.
Biggest news of all is that we’ve just been picked up by a major booking
agent at The Agency Group. What that means is that I’ll finally be
getting a little assistance on the show booking side of things and will be
much more likely coming to a town near you sometime soon. Rome wasn’t
built in a day and so it’s not like things will all of a sudden explode and
I’ll be touring the world, but it is definitely a HUGE help and should make
things cook a little quicker.
Speaking of shows, I’ve got 2 BIG ones planned, one in Toronto at
the Rivoli on Friday February 4th, and one in
Montreal at Le Swimming on Thursday March 10th (date changed from March 3rd).
Both shows will be with the FULL BAND, and the Toronto show will feature the
choir and special guests. For both shows, I will have some extremely
exciting openers (I can’t reveal them yet because none are 100% confirmed
but I’ll let you know….) ALSO, I’ll be appearing on the Global
Television morning show in Montreal on either March 9th or 10th
(details soon!).
In
other news, this webpage will be getting a serious face-lift within the next
couple of weeks which I’m very excited about. There’ll be a totally
new design and navigation, and also, I’ll be adding some cool new features
like a message board, lyrics, lots more writing, more videos, and a special
section that I’m working on where you can listen to the evolution of songs
from their earliest stages to their finished form.
In
‘upcoming album’ news, I’m currently in the process of getting the new
incarnation of the band together. We’ll be jamming regularly, trying
out a few different line-up options and working on a LOT of new material
that I’ve been writing over the past little while. Once we feel like
the material is right, then we’ll look to put all the other pieces in place
and start recording. My goal is to have it out by the beginning of the
summer but this time, I don’t want to rush so I can’t guarantee it. At
this point it’s looking like it’ll be a double EP, 6 full-band tracks and 6
acoustic-vibe tracks.
Well, I guess
that’s pretty much it. I just purchased some more space online so I’ll
be able to repost some of the videos that I had to take down, plus I was
able to create 3 versions of the highlight reel from the Reillys show (If
you haven’t already, check it out HERE; a lot of
you are in it!) I’m really looking forward to this year; I'm very
excited and hopeful that we’ll be able to keep building on things and
working towards better and better shows and material. Hopefully we’ll
be seeing you at one of the upcoming shows but if not, I’ll always keep the
webpage up to date with new goodies so you can be involved in what’s going
on no matter where you are (we now have friends from Australia and the
UK visiting regularly, welcome!). Hope you all had a wonderful holiday
and New Year and that your own goals and projects are moving along well.
Let me know if you’re up to anything and I’ll definitely try to make it out.
Take care and we’ll see you soon! Love PEter
N.B. For all you Vermonters, the CD is now
available at BORDERS on Church street in downtown Burlington! |
